One of the lesser-known Powell and Pressburger collaborations. During the Second World War, scientist Sammy Rice (David Farrar) works at a British research unit set up to solve the enemy's methods of attack. Embittered after losing a foot in a bomb blast, Sammy is increasingly seeking solace in drink. However, a budding romance with his secretary, Susan (Kathleen Byron), and the challenge of analysing a new German bomb provide him with a new sense of meaning.

Zoltan Korda directs and produces this South African-set drama based on the celebrated novel by Alan Paton. Set in a little village in the scorched valley of Ixopo, the story revolves around the family of Reverend Stephen Kumalo (Canada Lee). The Reverend's son, Absalom (Lionel Ngakane), has disappeared and his sister, Gertrude (Ribbon Dhlamini), is ill in Johannesburg. Kumalo leaves his poor village with his life savings in order to go to Johannesburg to try to persuade his sister and son to come home but while there he finds his son has been accused of the murder of the son of a farmer. As both fathers suffer, they slowly become friends. Sydney Poitier co-stars.

"Jesus of Vancouver: the Left Coast Memoirs" is the fictionalized memoir of a ubiquitous, unnamed drifter the author refers to as "Jesus." His life, and the life of Mary, a young runaway that crosses Jesus' path, are followed to gain insight into their personal experiences, trials and tribulations, while growing up on the west coast of North America. This is a shared narrative many will recognize. The story moves from small towns on Vancouver Island to the streets of Vancouver, the environmental protests in Tofino, the mountains of the Slocan valley, and, finally, to the beaches of the southern Baja.

Val Guest writes and directs this sci-fi drama. After global nuclear testing knocks the world off its axis, temperatures begin to rise rapidly as the planet is sent careering towards the sun. In London the heat is causing the Thames to dry up as baffled Daily Express reporter Peter Stenning (Edward Judd), his colleague Bill Maguire (Leo McKern), and his girlfriend Jeanne Craig (Janet Munro), resolve to get to the bottom of the matter. After battling the Government for the truth, they are shocked to discover the fate of their planet and must search for a solution before it's too late.

With his 'Missa Solemnis', the composer broke with all conventions for the composition of a mass, creating a work that went beyond the normal framework of the liturgy. His treatment and interpretation of the text creates the impression of a coherent set of events, and as such the work distances itself from the normal liturgical procedures, becoming instead the main focus of interest. In his introduction to the performance given in the Cologne Cathedral as part of the World Youth Day 2005, Pope Benedict XVI states: 'The Missa Solemnis bears overwhelming witness to an unceasing search for belief that refuses to turn its back on God'.
